Dear Janice -
In response to your note on the celiac listserv, I can relate. Upon
diagnosis, I found myself depressed and talking to a professional. It
helped. I too am carrying around a few extra pounds, yet am extremely
healthy and gluten-free for life. Do you have a source of Vitamin B (6 & 12)
in your diet? Supplements, brown rice, etc. Satisfy that misleading hunger
feeling with another activity. Yes, easier said than done. But quite
possible. Food is only 1 percent of life. As for the antidepressants, I
highly doubt that will last forever. Side effects of Zoloft? If you feel
comfortable, e-mail me and we'll chat. I'm celiac, a triathlete, have a
degree in nutritional science and am completing a Master's in Counseling
Psychology.
