In the last few months I have had a dull pain in the centre of the stomach immediately after eating. I am 49, diagnosed with CD in 1999, and, apart from a recently acquired and diagnosed shrimp allergy, I have no other food problems and am basically very healthy and well.
I have just been checked out for ulcers, H Pylori, gastritis, gallstones & pancreatic enlargement etc. by gastroscopy & ultrsasound & given a clean bill of health. I have had autoimmune hypothyroidism for 3 years and my endocrinologist agreed that the pain could be related to very fluctuating thyroid levels but these are well controlled at present. The gastroenterologist has concluded I have non-ulcerative dyspepsia. However, I do not have any normal symptoms of indigestion (or IBS) like heartburn, acid reflux, gas, bloating etc. and antacids do not help.
The pain is not severe or sharp - more like a feeling I've been kicked under the ribs. It's not brought on by any particular food or drink but worse when I am NOT very active and stressed. Some weeks I don't have it at all.
Any suggestions as to cause?
Incidentally, after 5 years on a strict GF diet (including prescribed European Codex Alimentarius wheatstarch), my "villi look fanatastic" according to the consultant!
