Hi Listmates,

Thanks to all of you who took the time to help me find a substitute for
cherry cola in my chocolate cake recipe. You've given me plenty of options
and I'm looking forward to that piece of cake for dessert this weekend.
Here is a summary of replies:

1. Coke & Pepsi both have cherry cola flavors but should be checked out re
gluten free status.

2. Use regular cola and add cherry pie filling if it is a layer cake.

3. Use regular cola and add one of the following: maraschino cherry juice,
Kirsch, cherry flavoring, dry cherry Koolaid, grenadine (check g.f. status),
cherry syrup or jam. Try 1/2 to 1 teaspoon to start with.

4. Dr. Pepper has cherry flavor soda or try Wild Cherry Pepsi.

5. Look for store brands, e.g. at local convenience stores, mini marts or
gas stations. Check for g.f. status.

6. One person always makes a chocolate cake that uses a can of plain cola.
It turns out perfectly every time.

You really are an inovative group and I appreciate your help!
With thanks, Dianne
