Hi all, a month or so ago I was asking the listserv for any ideas of places to eat in LBI, I got alot of replies back saying to please summarize when I had information, so here it is, some of which I've cut and pasted from email responses I received (so as not to confuse, my comments are italicized):
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Plantation in Harvey Cedars has a GF menu (which they were kind enough to email to me. If anyone would like it, email me and I'll forward it to you....Diane) Here's their info...

Brian Sabarese
General Manager

7908 Long Beach Blvd Harvey Cedars, NJ 08008
Phone : 609-494-8191
Fax : 609-494-3297

There is also an awesome health food store in LBI right across from Bay
Village. Here's their info...

VEGGIN ON THE BEACH
801 North Bay Avenue (LBI Boulevard), Beach Haven, (609) 492-0090

We stopped in here, the woman who worked there was very helpful. She mentioned a couple of GF friendly restaurants, one of which was Daddy O's, the other was Greenhouse Cafe - see my comments below..
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a place in LBI called HOWARD's - it is a family seafood resturant and they made me a to-go dinner ( I had my little maltese dog with me so I could not eat inside) of broiled shrimp (so yummy), some applesauce and potato...it was fine and I was so happy. They seemed to understand food allergy issues - and for me, I am so sensitive that it was very important that they did exactly what I told them to do. I hope this helps and you have a good experience.

I called the Greenhouse Cafe because the woman at the Health Food Store told me they were very Celiac friendly. I spoke at length to the owner, who assured me that all wait staff knew about GF items and substitutions. He told me that for instance you could get Chicken Parmesan but just make sure you tell them to use the Grilled Chicken which he said was GF. He mentioned various other substitutions as well. He also said they had Rice Pasta available. I felt very confident and made reservations. When we got there I looked at the menu - nothing about Rice Noodles or "gluten free". When our waiter came to take our order, I proceeded to order the Rice Pasta for my son. The waiter looked at me with that blank expression we've all come to know - he had no idea what I was talking about. I explained to him about speaking to the owner, so he spoke to the owner and came back knowing what I wanted. For my daughter I ordered the Chicken Parm with the chicken grilled, I stressed "gluten free - no flour, etc", he still had that same blank look but took the order. After that, I went over to the owner and expressed my concern, I told him how the waiter did not know what I was talking about...to which the owner replied "yes he does", I once again told him that he did not and the owner replied "the kitchen is aware of your special needs", he was actually a bit rude and pretty much brushed me off, big difference from our lengthy phone conversation earlier that day. Anyway, our order came..the Rice Pasta Noodles were really terrible, my son could not eat them, but at least they tried... My daughter did better on the Chicken Parm and had no reaction later. Once we'd gotten our food, the owner got his personality back and came over to see how our meal was, at that point I was feeling none too friendly so I pretty much brushed him off. So I would say, eat at your own risk! Their email is [log in to unmask], phone #609-494-7333.

The week we were there, the local paper happened to have a big article about places on LBI to eat for people on special diets, celiac included, which was very informative, mentioning several places. I have a copy of the article and if you'd like it, let me know, I can email it to you.

Hope this was helpful to you!
