In January I noticed my son shared a lot of my wheat allergy symptoms,
lack of sleep, headaches, dizziness, difficulty concentrating and
irritability. My son was diagnosed in 2nd grade with ADD and has been
treated with Ritalin since then. He is now in 7th grade.

I put him on a wheat free diet in January and after 3 weeks of steady
improvement, I allowed him to take Ritalin as needed instead of every
day. I consulted with his PED during this time.

During Feb and March I monitored his progress daily. The first
improvement I noticed was in reading comprehension tests. He scored
100% on 4 tests in a row, before this, 50% on a test was good. When I
got his grades in March, all his grades except Art went up a letter
from B's to A's. In addition the amount of time my wife and I spend
with him on homework has drastically reduced. He is sleeping better
and is less agitated. No more headaches or dizziness. He is now off
Ritalin.

As far as I'm concerned his ADD was caused by a wheat allergy. I have
been unable to get a positive allergy test result in my son or myself.
I tested negative to Ige and my son tested negative to Igg4 wheat
allergies. I wish I could find a way to determine if other ADD
sufferers could benefit from a no wheat diet.
