Hi all! My husband was diagnosed with DH about 15 years ago. We were going
along fine when a few weird things happened to him. He has had numbness in
his left foot and two major GI bleeds, where the cause was never found.
Fairly recently we found out that most people who have DH also have CS and
we also found out about some of the hidden sources of gluten and gliaden
like certain grain based vinegars and alcohols, pickles, and our toaster!
We feel that his problems stem from CS and he is meeting with a specialist
soon. Anyway, we are dealing with all these things but we have a question.
I read in the CSA handbook that canola oil should be strictly avoided,
however, many products that are considered safe contain canola oil. So,
what is the deal? Should we be avoiding it or not and what would make
canola oil harmful? This is probably item whose omition has traumaized us
the most. Thanks for your help!
