My understanding was celiac disease was the traditional term used when it
first appeared in infants and non-tropical sprue was what was used when it
first appeared in adults. Then along the way they learned they were the
same disorder. As far as I can tell celiac sprue is a contraction created
by CSA/USA. Possibly so to avoid using the word disease.
