This did not elicite the same number of responses as the 'mustard' question
which I dealt with in a separate summary.

One person mentioned rotating oat and wheat crops in alternate years thereby
having some residual wheat seeds to sprout and grow in the oats. 'Wish I had
the nerve to try oats again."

Another wrote:  "Jesse, I don't think it wise to start giving advice to
other celiacs that oats are ok. The doctor I see in Dallas, Tx, who is a
leading researcher in celiac-sprue, says there is not enough evidence that
oats are ok. In fact, he is strongly against oats."

Another: "Thanks for the news about organic oats"

Conclusion:  My extremely sensitive, totally gluten intolerant stomach tells
me that the organic quick oats from my hf store are absolutely gf.

Unfortunately, it is very obvious that so many gf foods that are safe in
their original state may become contaminated accidentally before we get
them.  Unfortuntely, oats are one of these.

One day, someone will discover a test for gluten that we can use on food as
the diabetic test his blood for insulin.  What a break through that will be!
