The next meeting of the Santa Cruz Celiacs will be on

SATURDAY, MAY 15, 1999

at 11:00 a.m.

The meeting will be held at the Dominican Education Center, room
C, by Dominican Hospital (see directions below) in Santa Cruz.
We will have a potluck lunch; if you wish to bring a dish to
share, remember to bring a list of ingredients or a copy of the
recipe.

We will be discussing the special concerns of Celiacs in the event
of a major disaster.  Many groups are preparing for long term
disruption by Year 2000 problems: is this really a possibility?  In
any disaster that disrupted food supplies for a significant length of
time, how would those of us who have special dietary needs cope?
If you have a gluten-free disaster supply, bring a list of the contents
or some samples of the food it contains.


Directions:

From Highway 1 in driving north towards Santa Cruz, take the
Soquel Drive exit and turn right at the signal onto Soquel Drive,
then left at the next light (Commercial Crossing) into the Dominican
Hospital grounds.  (Skip the next paragraph for directions once you
have made this turn and are on the Dominican Hospital grounds.)

From Highway 1 driving south in Santa Cruz, take the Soquel
Avenue exit, turn right at the signal at the end of the exit ramp,
then right at the next signal onto Soquel Drive.  Once on Soquel
Drive, turn left at the second signal,  Commercial Crossing, onto
the Dominican Hospital grounds.

As soon as you turn onto the hospital grounds, make an
immediate right; then at the first stop sign, go straight; at the
second stop sign, turn left; then make the next right turn into the
parking area.  Directly in front of you is the Dominican Education
Center (a two story wood building).  The meeting is in room C
upstairs.

I have had a request for a Saturday afternoon meeting, and am
considering varying the meeting times or days occasionally.  Let
me know if you would like to attend a meeting in Santa Cruz but
cannot attend on Saturday mornings.
