Thanks to the dozens of people who responded about the use of agave nectar/syrup.  (I will summarize.)  Most were very positive, but I did get this response today, and thought it should be shared with the listserv immediately, particularly those members with diabetes.

Agave MAY be harmful to diabetics.  I am not familiar with this organization or its credibility, and I have to give more time to reading about their research before I decide to return the jar of agave to the supermarket or put it in my coffee.
