FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RICE DRINK BEING RECALLED IN 14 STATES
January 27, 2000 -- Imagine Foods, Inc. of Palo Alto, CA is voluntarily
recalling from distribution in 14 states certain 32 oz. packages of its "Rice
Dream Original Enriched" beverage product. The product may be contaminated
with the spoilage organism Bacillus cereus, which may cause diarrhea, nausea
and other harmful symptoms.

The product in question bears the code "DEC/14/00/A" and a time code ending
with /4 (ie: "xx:xx:xx/4") next to the white pouring cap on the top of the
cardboard package. The code "4A12149" is printed on the bottom of the
container.

The product was packed on December 14, 1999 by California Natural Products of
Lathrop, CA. The company detected the spoilage in routine post-production
testing, but approximately 3375 packages were inadvertently distributed to
health food stores and other retailers in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado,
Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico,
Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. The company says it has identified
and corrected the condition that caused the contamination.

Consumers should return products with the codes in question to the place of
purchase for a refund or exchange. No other Imagine Foods' products are
affected by this action.

The companies involved in this voluntary recall are working closely with the
US Food and Drug Administration. Four consumer complaints with two illnesses
have been reported to date.

For additional information, consumers may call 1-877-760-8775 or visit the
Imagine Foods website at www.imaginefoods.com.

Good Luck to everyone!
