Hello Can anyone help me please. I live in England and have been ill
for some 23 years. I have only just realised that my symptoms are
probably caused by Celiac Disease. I changed my doctor recently and
the new one is much more familiar with the different presentations of
celiac and referred me immediately following a spinal MRI scan which
showed abnormalities caused by deficiencies of vitimin B12 and folic
acid. The previous doctor could find no explanation for my terrible
illness (and weight gain - yes, gain) and blamed psychological causes.
My appointment with the specialist (gastroenterologist) is not until
December and I am supposed to stay on a gluten rich diet til then. I am
being driven mad by itching on my scalp, back, knees and buttocks. Even
where there is no rash, the skin drives me crazy. Is there anything I
can do to ease this while I wait for the appointment? The symptoms
march on relentlessly, the gastric and bone pain is really bad,
especially at night and I am at my wits end with worry. I have been
night blind for some time, but now even my daytime vision is interfered
with by glare and dazzle. Apart from cutting out the gluten, is there
anything I can take or do to ease the symptoms?

Sheila
