Well, I guess it had to happen sooner or later, but I must say I didn't
expect it to be this bad!

I've had my first really big reaction to eating wheat!

I had some A&W french fries last wednesday. When I was eating them, it
crossed my mind they might have a wheat flour coating, but I ate them
anyways - after all, how bad could a tablespoon or so of wheat be??

Four hours later, I had massive diarrhea that lasted about 3 hours.

Twenty four hours later I erupted in a massive case of itchy, ITCHY hives
from head to toe. As well, my eyes are all puffy and I look like I've been
in a boxing ring!

It has now been 6 days, and the hives and puffy eyes are still just about as
bad as on Thursday. The puffiness in my eyes is worst in the morning and
improves a little as the day goes on - but I still have black circles around
my eyes. The itching starts out not too bad in the morning but builds all
day until I feel like I could rip my skin off in the evening.

I tried Claritin and Reactine to try to control the reaction, but neither
had any effect. I went to the doctor yesterday about this and he recommended
Benadryl. I've taken that for two days now, and that doesn't seem to help
much either. The only thing that relieves the itching for a bit is to take a
bath - difficult when I am at work!

Do any of you have any tried and true suggestions for stopping this
reaction?

(I'm NEVER going to take a stupid chance like that again!)

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Judith
