I got just a few answers back about Hartford. Appears that there aren't a
lot of choices. Here are some of the replies that I got. Thanks for the
help.

<< Shame you will be without transport. Mystic, CT and its seaport and the
Foxwoods Casino are all about 30- to 60-minutes away from Hartford.
http://www.pequotcasino.com/by_bus.html
<http://www.pequotcasino.com/by_bus.html> -- they do have buses down to
the casino. I did have a very pleasant experience there in terms of dining.
I went to write about wheelchair accessibility, it was a last-minute
assignment, no time to call re: GF ... but, wow, the waiters knew their
stuff.>>(This person was kind enough to offer me a ride depending on when I
would be there.)

<< I live in the Hartford area. There are a few
restaurants around within walking distance, but I am
unable to tell you whether they are GF. As far as sites
to see there are very few within walking distance. The
following are in the center of the downtown area:

The Old State House
The Wathward Athenium

I have not been downtown for a while so I don't know if
they have free admittance.

The only other sites would be out of the center of
Hartford, and you need to take a bus to them.

West Hartford:
The Harriet Beecher Stowe House
The Mark Twain House

There a numerous sites to see within the state, but
unfortunately they are not in the vicinity of where you
will be.>>

<< There is a small restaurant just across the street from the Civic Center
called The Gathering Place. I have had a wonderful breakfast there many
times, the last time being on March 3. I usually have an omelet. They
washed the pan and the spatula before cooking my meal, and the chef herself
brought it out. When I was there a few weeks ago, I asked about lunch, as
my husband and I used to go there often before CD. The chef told me there
were many things on the menu that I'd be able to eat. She is the only
person who cooks there, so I am quite sure this would be a good option for
you.>>

<< There is a web site for Connecticut as follows:

http://connceliac.tripod.com <http://connceliac.tripod.com> .

It gives the names of celiac leaders in Hartford. You should contact them
for information on restaurants in the area>>( I contacted one of the people
listed but they live outside of Hartford and was unable to give me any
information.)

<< The Gluten Free Pantry is in Glastonbury, close by to Hartford. They
sell
lots of yummy gluten free treats.>>
