Just a note to all regarding Elaine Mathew's post concerning celiac
and myositis (quoted below). She suggests that you visit a
rheumatologist.. I did, and he found "some osteoarthritis," which
(being a rheumatologist) is what he seems to have been looking for.
If I have arthritis, it is minimal.

The diagnosis of myositis came from the neuromuscular specialist in
the neurology department at a major teaching hospital (Long Island,
NY). Prior to that I had been to a "regular" neurologist who was
stumped and sent me to the neuromuscular specialist. The visit to the
rheumatologist cost me about 8 months in vainly trying to overcome
the muscle weakness with exercise and Vioxx.

Best to all, you are a fantastic list, and thanks to Elaine for
following through on the celiac-myositis connection.

John
