Hi Listmates,

I just wanted to answer a some common questions and concerns over what my
survey was for, and whether it would be posted (of course, I stated this in
my first posting).

I have many purposes for this survey, many of them due to the nature of my
business, but also to use the findings to try and get family members to get
tested. Many of my family have classic celiac symptoms, and I have been
trying to get them in to get tested. This lends more credence to this
position. I am also one of the owners of Mr. Ritt's Bakery, and have
numerous clients that come in with stories of sheer horror in the
misdiagnosis and amount of time that it takes for them to get a diagnosis. I
hope to be able to incorporate this with other information to help to sway
some of the medical people who I am in contact with to give them a better
feel of how real this disease is, and hopefully save some other people the
nightmare of numerous doctor visits to diagnosis a disease that has the
wondrous treatment of dietary control instead of all the drugs that tend to
be thrown at it's symptoms and underlying maladies.

As many of you know, we are also in the process of putting together an
expansion of our business, to be able to serve the celiac community in a more
comprehensive nature. As part of this, I had to assemble celiac demographics
for a 21 state area, as well as methods of diagnosis and symptomology etc...
I wanted to be able to also put a human side to this, as well as give the
list serve a better idea of the general status of diagnosis, and felt that
this would allow everyone to have a stronger feel for what was involved for
diagnosis in general, and maybe give other list members the same ammunition
that I hope to gain to help them to get other family members tested. It
seems that while it is senseless for people to suffer when they can control
the symptoms with diet, we all know how hard it is to make such a drastic
dietary change, and many people resist this until there is a high toll to be
paid physically, as well as mentally.

I hope that this explains all to those asking, and hope that noone
feels decieved by my survey. I will post as soon as I can get the numerous
responses with numerous answers tallied. I think it will be of interest to
all

thank you again, and may all be well, Paul
