Hi Everyone,  thanks for all of your quick
responses... the consensus is that most, if not all
caramel colorings are safe if the product is made in
the USA.  If so, it is safe because it was made from
something other than wheat, and there are a bunch of
things it can be made from:  corn, sugar, milk, etc...

A very knowledgeable celiac did some research with
over a hundred manufacturers and found that all of
them did NOT use wheat or barley for their caramel
coloring... So, I am going to add it back into my
diet... Thanks again for all the info, Deb
