     I'm sure that many list members already know this, but for the
benefit of those who, like me, were uncertain about the status of
Newman's Own products, here goes. Reards, Mary in NYC.
     I spoke to Jerry Chelli (? spelling) at Newman's Own
(1-800-444-8705) and he said that the salad dressings and salsas
contain distilled vinegar and should not be considered safe.
     These items were definitely GF:
     ALL the pasta sauces: Bombolino, Diavolo, Venetian, Venetian with
Mushrooms, Say Cheese and Sockarooni are all GF.
     ALL regular and microwave popcorn: all natural, all natural
butter, all natural light, and all natural light butter are GF
     Virgin Lemonade is GF.

     Newman's Own is also producing ice cream now. It is made by Ben &
Jerry's, and as such is subject to the same warning Ben & Jerry's
always gives, viz., that the only varieties they absolutely guarantee
as GF are World's Best Vanilla ice cream, Doonesberry and Cranberry
Orange sorbets.

     NONE, repeat, NONE of Newman's Own Organics are safe.
