Thanks to all who replied to my question asking if there is any such
thing as non-celiac gluten intolerance. I got a lot of responses the
first day & stored them away in a special folder I created just for this
purpose. But, the next time I booted up, the folder was gone! [DUH!
Where'd they go?] Anyway here's the jist of it:

(1) Most people replied, yes, one can be gluten intolerant but not
celiac. Here are a few examples:

-"He thinks I either have a wheat or gluten intolerance or an allergy
- probably an intolerance." [not celiac]

-"I had an gluten intolerance - transitory - but not celiac"

-"Yes, some people may have auto-immune problems like...while
their villi may not show signs of being flattened which is the typical
picture in Celiac Disease."

-"..that is what my daughter has. She is anti-gliadin IgG
positive, but
IgA negative." {but not celiac]

-''Dr. Fine has found microscopic colitits to be another gluten
related
condition which is not celiac disease."

-"You can be gluten intolerant (as in your problems clear up on the GF
diet) and not be diagnosed as celiac (as in no flattened villi seen
during biopsy)."

(2) A few replied, no, that all gluten intolerance is celiac (perhaps
undiagnosed, but still celiac). Here are two examples:

-"I just asked my gastroenterologist and he said no."

-"The answer to your question is that...all gluten intolerance is
celiac
disease".

-"There's no such thing as gluten intolerance without being celiac."
Sorry I couldn't be more precise & complete in my summary. I hope my
computer skills improve!
