You may also want to read this about maternal antibodies to gluten and schizophrenia in the child. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/245484.php

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/04/12/is-gluten-making-you-fat.aspx

half way down the article it talks about gluten's affect on the brain,
schizophrenia etc.

I have heard that the diet only benefits a certain percentage of people who
actually carry a diagnosis of schizophrenia. However, I can say that when
my daughter was first diagnosed (15 years ago when the general public said
celiac - what?) my friends in the mental health field often said "oh yeah, I
had a client who had that". That applied to a wide range of diagnostic
areas....depression, anxiety, etc. I have also heard that in certain people
the amino acid in gluten can be directly toxic to the central nervous
system.....

I think there is so much we don't know yet about gluten and health.

A book by Stephen Wangen called "Heathier without wheat" talks some about this and many other diseases caused by celiac.
