Dear Readers:

I have received over fifty replies to my question: Is it normal for stools to
float after going on a gluten free diet? The majority of the respondents say
they continue to float. About one-fourth say their stools no longer float but
it took several months and even years being gluten free. Except for a few
replies, most believe it is an indication of malabsorption of the small intestine
or air in the stool. A few think it is the result of either too much fiber or
not enough fiber in the diet. I prefer the malabsorption idea as it goes
along with weight loss. LP in AZ
