Hello Listmates,
I have a couple of questions. First does anyone with CD get "hot
flashes" when consuming gluten? I am presently on a gluten challenge, and
I now believe I have found the reason for my hot flashes and sweatiness
that my Dr. and I could not pin down. We tried estrogen for menopause, and
he tested for thyroid, but the symptoms persisted. I hadn't realized that
they nearly stopped when I went GF, never made the connection until the
challenge. Now, after a month on gluten, they're back. I am finally
starting to "feel" Celiac, and my intestines are now reacting (I have a
history of not getting symptoms until my blood gets messed up). I am
guessing that the damage might show up now, but I'm not sure. I cannot
schedule the biopsy yet, as my husband needs surgery, and I need to know
the date of that, and schedule around it.
The second question concerns something that has been discussed on the
list, but I don't think definitely decided, that is the absorption of
gluten through the skin or by breathing, as I have a chance to work in a
donut shop, and I wonder if anyone has worked in that sort of environment
without getting sick. I would like to take the job, as it fits my schedule
and lifestyle.
Thanks in advance, and I will summarize. Have a good weekend, and take
care.
