I'm confused about my upcoming checkup with the gastroenterologist that made my diagnosis of celiac disease last September.

He made the diagnosis based on endoscopy/biopsy results, confirmed with the follow-up "celiac panel" of blood tests (his terminology).

I'm scheduled to see him for a follow-up appointment later in May. My question to the scheduling nurse was if I should have the blood tests done again prior to my appointment, so we could review the progress of the GF diet (I feel great!)

His reply (through the nurse who returned my call and left a message) was that he did not require the blood tests again, and in fact I would probably never need to have them repeated in my lifetime.

From what I've read on this list, I've gotten the impression that follow-up blood tests can be helpful to assess my GF status.

What do you think? I'm so new at this I don't know how to respond. Are there any appropriate articles/research I can print out and bring in to him?

Thanks
Barbara
