Hello Listmates,

        I have 3 daughters (ages 7, 13 & 15) with silent celiac disease and
1 son who doesn't have CD.  The girls were diagnosed within the last 3
years.  My husband and I have tested negative.  No one else in either of our
families has been tested or diagnosed.  Should our 2nd degree relatives (our
siblings and our parents) be tested?  Should our nieces and nephews be
tested?  

        We only found out about celiac in our daughters because one of them
was diagnosed with Type I diabetes first and her Endocrinologist tested her
for CD during routine tests for Type I diabetes.

        We don't want to point fingers at either family for "starting" this,
but we are looking out for the health of our relatives especially if they
are silent like our girls.

        What is your opinion about 2nd Degree Relatives being tested?
Nieces and Nephews (cousins to our girls) being tested?
