IT CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL YOUR WEIGHT ON A GF DIET.

Due to the restrictions in ingredients, many manufacturers put in lots of fat and/or sugar to make the foods taste good.

Following are some GF foods we carry at Diet America that are low in Weight Watchers points.

For those not familiar with Weight Watchers, they work on a point system that is based on the ratio of fat, fiber and calories. In general, the lower the points, the lower the calories and fat, and in addition, low point products tend to be high in fiber. Foods that are 1, 2 or 3 points are heaven to people following the Weight Watchers plan.

IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN ABOUT CALORIES AND/OR FAT, YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN THIS LIST OF PRODUCTS...EVEN IF YOU DON'T DO WEIGHT WATCHERS.

Please be aware that every product, or even every flavor, from a particular manufacturer may NOT be low in points. Where we're only familiar with certain flavors, we've listed those flavors...you'll have to read labels on their other varieties.

Mr. Spice Sauces: 1 serving = 1 point (fat free and no sodium as well!)

EnviroKidz Peanut Butter or Chocolate Rice Bars: 1 bar = 2 points (also low sodium)

Erewhon Rice Twice and Aztec cereals: 1 serving = 2 points

Enjoy Life Caramel Apple Bars: 1 bar = 1 point (they have other flavors, but we don't know the point values on them)

Enjoy Life No Oats Oatmeal Cookies: 2 cookies = 1 point (some other varieties are higher in points)

Mi-Del Ginger Snaps: 4 cookies = 2 points (some other varieties are higher in points)

Josef's Apple Bread: 1 slice = 2 points

Dr. Praeger GF Spinach Pancakes: 1 pancake = 1 point (make sure to get the GF ones, not the regular ones)

Dr. Praeger GF Fish Sticks: 3 fish sticks = 3 points (again, make sure to get the GF ones)

Nu-World Amaranth Mini Ridges (cheddar or rosemary basil): 2/3 cup = 1 point

Nostalgia cookies: 1 cookie = 0 points, 2 cookies = 1 point (each cookie is very satisfying, so 1 or 2 cookies usually "do the trick")

Smarter Carb Cookies from BP Gourmet: 3 cookies = 1 point (also dairy free and sugar free)

Orgran Apricot & Coconut Cookies: 1 serving = 1 point (not familiar with their other flavors)

Orgran Fruit Filled Bars (Blueberry, Apricot & Choc-Cherry flavors): 1 bar = 3 points

Heaven-Scent Rice & Marshmallow bar (the one boosted with soy protein): 1 bar = 3 points

Glennys Soy Crisps, Potato Spuds: All flavors except BBQ are GF, according to their website. Their plants are not totally GF, but specific products are GF.

Walden Farms: All their products are GF. Most are 0 points, their bruschetta is 1 point. They make salad dressings, dips, syrups, ketchup, etc. Their GF status is not indicated on their label. Their factory is right near our home, and we've talked to their top manufacturing person, and he assured us they are GF. When it's time for them to have new labels printed up, the GF status will be right on the label.

We are always on the lookout for low point GF products, so if you run into other low point GF products, we'd appreciate if you'd drop us a note.

Good luck!
