Hi Listmates,

I wrote about this a couple years ago and received
many helpful replies. Why its not a 'done deal' or
'over with', I don't really know. I guess it is that
one of the joys in life is sharing a meal with friends
and relatives, whether at home, a restaurant or other
mutual meeting place.

I've come to the absolute, for me, conclusion that I
will in the future bring all my own food to a potluck.
There is no way for me to be safe otherwise, and I'm
good and tired of getting 'that stomach ache' and the
worry it promotes.

I find it hard to separate myself out in this manner.
I'm a bit afraid people will think me perhaps oddly
suspicious of their food (!?) and I find celiac
disease a difficult condition to
explain-to-understanding with a sentence or two. But,
oh well. I don't really have a choice, except to not
go, and that I don't want.

Karen V.
