Wow! I hesitated to post my comments in support for the current research
that has come to our attention for fear of all the negative remarks I
thought I'd get back. Was I ever surprised--a total of 81 responses with 76
OVERWHELMINGLY supportive!!! The other 5 were not negative, just from folks
with a differing opinion.

I'm not certain that a true summary is necessary. Most of you wrote the
same thing--that your hope for a treatment or (gasp) a cure makes the
thought of a future with Celiac much more pleasant. Medical research takes
a long time to come up with something that truly benefits the population as
a whole. I don't think any of us believe there's a "pill" just around the
corner, but to be so skeptical that we have no hope for a better future
pretty
much takes the fun out of life, doesn't it?

What I found very surprising was that many of us (like me) on this list
serve don't post because we fear being slammed when doing so. One person wrote:

I agree with you 100%!!!! I am soo sick of the negative attitudes on this
list, I now refuse to post questions anymore for fear of being made to feel
stupid or getting scolded for something or other. It's a shame, really.
When I first found this list it was of much help, but now, the longer I read
daily posts I sit here and wonder how awful some people must feel their
lives are to constantly cut down others and to always throw their negative
comments onto those of us who try to remain positive. Hooray to you for
your post.

How sad that a tool that should be entirely helpful and supportive can have
such a downside. Nevertheless, I feel much better now that I posted my
comments and received a
ll of yours. Many thanks for each and every
response, as well as all the good wishes for my Celiac son. The same to you
and yours. Joy
