With all the talk lately about antibiotics and OTC cold remedies, I am
reporting on Biaxin, produced by Abbott Laboratories in Chicago, IL. My
son has an ear infection which amoxicillin didn't touch and he was then
prescribed Biaxin, which is used for ear infections.

I called Abbott Labs to find out the gluten status, as the PDR indicated a
starch in the filler. They returned my call and left a voice mail! Biaxin
is gluten free. Yay!

I found a message in the CELIAC archives, dated 1995 and from Canada, that
said that everything Abbott Labs makes (in Canada, at least) is GF. I did
not get a chance to update this, because I didn't speak in person with the
pharmacists there. The number of their technical dept is 800-441-4987,
option #1 on the voicemail (US), in case someone wants to check on another
of their products.
