Below is a link to an article about progress toward a “celiac pill.”
Theoretically, such a pill would allow people with celiac to eat
conventional meals.

www.celiactoday.com/medicine/celiac_pill

The article is on CeliacToday.com, a news and information site that I have
launched. All of the articles and information are researched and written by
the site’s staff (currently just me, but it’ll expand over time).

I’m a professional journalist (see the “About” section on the site), so the
articles are reported and written with that discipline in mind. The site is
NOT a blog of personal opinions.

My interest in celiac, by the way, arises from my 12-year-old son, who was
diagnosed a few years ago.

Some other articles in the current edition include:

- A review of a gluten-free restaurant guide

- One baker’s view of where to get the best GF donuts, bagels, pizza,
desserts and breads.

- An article about the competition among makers of GF foods

A new set of articles will be published on the site each month.

The site also offers many tips, “tools” and annotated links. They include,
for example, tools for searching for GF food makers by food category (mixes,
cookies, bagels, etc.), as well as a tool for locating support groups
throughout the U.S.

I welcome constructive suggestions about the site. I’d love to hear about
topics that you would like to see researched. What aspects of celiac and the
GF lifestyle do you wonder about? I’ll be happy to do the legwork.

Lastly, regarding the “celiac pill” idea, be advised that no such pill
currently exists. Some fly-by-night companies (not the ones in the article,
which are quite respectable) sometimes make this claim about enzymes they
sell. Currently, however, the only proper treatment is the GF diet.
