Hi Everyone,

I had a great business to Buffalo. I had dinner at TGI Friday on the dirst night with a very helpful waiter I told him my CD allergy. I had a bunless burger with a side of salad with oil and vinger. All the dressing had wheat in then and the fries were no in a dedicated fryer. I learn the hard way from Applebee's french fries.
2nd night dinner i ate at Buffalo Smokehouse and had a bunless burger with fries. the fries were in a deciated fryer. No much to choose from on the menu. I did chose the restuarant. 3rd and final night dinner i had jumbo shrimp cocktail and corn chips with salsa at Century grill. I did pack plenty of gluten free breakfast and lunch items to help me out. I decide to read the best restuarant guide and discovered a gluten-free lactose free article. Curlys Grille in Lackawanna and Ilio DiPaolo's in Basdell.

Thank you all for your wonderful responses.

Rita

You might find The Essential Gluten-Free Restaurant Guide. It features 4000 restaurant listings covering the whole US, including Buffalo. You can learn more about it and see sample pages at www.triumphdining.com.

we were there last december in the downtown area and had a tough time finding places. when we did find restaurants, they were very nice and accomodating but they were not very aware. if you can get away from downtown, there are places. the best was a pizza place that will deliver gf pizza - wed. only. i can't remember the name but the support group in that area has a good web page.

I keep an extensive list of places people mention they travel and manage a gluten free diet. This is all I have for Buffalo. I hope it helps some.

I can't help you with where to eat, but I did want to let you know that there is a chain of grocery stores called "Wegmans" and all Wegmans brand products have a G on the front of the label if it's gluten free. I love shopping there because they make everything so easily identifiable (especially salad dressings). They identify other allergens such as dairy too. They are from Syracuse to Buffalo/Niagara Falls, but the ones I know of for sure are right behind the Boulevard Mall in Buffalo (HUGE selection of GF products) and on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls. If you want more specific directions let me know and I will research it.

There isn't alot in Downtown that I am aware of. Big turnover in restaurants and chefs downtown. Unfortunately there are plenty in the northern suburbs. Hopefully you will have transportation. I do not recommend walking around downtown after dark. You might be able to get a few of the local restaurants to prepare the basics. There is Curlys Grille in Lackawanna (about 4 miles south of downtown) they have a great GF menu. Fantastic food also... The owners sister has CD. I could eat there daily... Here is the link to the restaurants and other resources. http://www.buffaloceliacs.org/gf_dining___shopping.htm
