Hello list,

I am new here and was recommended. I think my 3 yr. old may have celiac
and possibly me after talking with people from another list about my
symptoms, they told me about celiac so I read up on it and have read the
FAQ from this list. I think my 3 yr. old has more of the symptoms.

What I need to know is that it is likely that her pediatrician will not
refer her to a gastrointestinal doctor, then again she might. I need to
know what questions I should ask, what should I expect? Are there
certain blood tests I should make sure they do? How can I make her as
comfortable as possible for these test. I want to make sure we do the
right test first so we don't put her through too much.

She has already been through so much with the possibility of lactose
intolerance, the nutritionist thought this to be since she kept having
ear infections, then tubes, then the ear infections started again before
the tubes were due to come out. About a year ago a front tooth turned
dark, now 2 other teeth are rotting but she says they don't hurt, she
always has gas. She will complain that her stomach hurts, and will wake
up from a dead sleep crying the calf of her legs hurt (we thought maybe
circulation) now maybe since reading about celiac it might be her shin
bones. When she was born she could not drink similac w/iron and was put
on issomil and her rash on her stomach went away. I understand this is a
genetic disease and it can come go and come back etc..., and at any age.
Should all of us be tested since we all seem to have symptoms or if the
3 yr. old has it maybe we should all just go on the GF diet. The 3 yr.
old has the most symptoms and should be tested or I would spare her from
all the tests.

Any info you can give me is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
