Many people said that they did indeed experience shortness of breath before
their celiac diagnosis.  Some attribute it to the anemia they suffered as a
result of the celiac disease.  Several others had actually been diagnosed with
severe asthma.  Everyone stated that the breathing problems disappeared or
greatly improved after going on a gluten free diet.

This information is encouraging and it'll help to persuade my mother to stay
GF.
