hi, wanted to pass along some good news. I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago with Celiac after having it 40 years. I had a bone scan not long after my diagnosis. It came back with Osteoporosis and Osteopenia. Yesterday was my first bone scan since going gluten free. I had almost a 6% increase in bone density in my spine and almost 3% increase in bone density in my hip. My numbers are almost considered normal, but I'm still in the Osteopenia range. My doc was happy with the results and wants to wait until I'm 50 before I have another bone scan.

As an FYI to those wondering what I've done? I took water aerobics, took Vit D and Calcium. I didn't go to other extremes, such as making bone broth as some recommended. Plus, I've had Greek yogurt almost every morning for breakfast.

I was discouraged when my endocrinologist said I likely wouldn't regain bone density. I didn't want others to be discouraged. As we all know, most doctors don't know much about Celiac.

Thanks for all your encouragement and advice.
Cathy
