Here's the summary of the use of soaps, detergents, haircare products
containing gluten... " we try to avoid it as much as possible. The skin
is the body's largest organ, and will "suck up" stuff applied topically,
so there is a possibility of being contaminated in that manner."

"I get a rash (not DH) when I use wheat or oat products. Technically, you
should be able to use them, I just don't because of the rash."

"I get all the same symptoms from shampoos, soaps, etc. on the hair/skin as
from anything I ingest. Some of my MD's think this is unlikely, but in my
case it is patently true. Therefore it commands respect, primarily my own."

"Try not to make yourself crazy over topical things. If you don't ingest
them, they cannot be causing the problems. The ingredient has to hit the
intestines to do the damage. "

"If I use any make-up that has wheat/gluten in it may face becomes
unbelieavably dry. If I use hair care products that contain it, my scalp gets
very dry/itchy."

"l suggest you read the CSA publication about pharmaceuticals. They tell
about celiacs all being "put-ins" and some of them being "put-ins AND
put-ons."

I did just that! Read the CSA publication, and figured it was time to rid my
home of "put-ons". I found 2 haircare products that I was using by Citre
that had wheat products written on the label, as well a handcream. My DH
sprung back into action about a few weeks ago and I won't be letting that
thing ruin this pretty face again! Thanks all!
