From the Jack Daniels/alcohol summary--
"One said Budweiser and Michelob products are brewed with rice. Check their
website www.Anheuser-Busch.com or call 1-800-Dial-BUD (1-800-342-5283)"

These are the notes on the various beer at the Anheuser-Busch website:

-brewed with a malt and hops
-finest pale two-row and Munich six-row barley
-a distinctive hop note and full malt flavor.
-a distinctive unfiltered wheat beer with a subtle hop note.
-two-row and caramel barley malt, a blend of imported and domestic hops
-chocolate, caramel and pale malts
-two-row and specialty caramel malts

These descriptions do not indicate gluten-free products.

While rice may be used as a carbohydrate to produce fermentation/alcohol,
the essence of beer is the blend of malted barley & hops that gives beer it's
taste.

Any time you find 'malt' in a commercial, non-speciality beverage (just as in
cereals), it will be from barley. While it is possible to malt (sprout &
toast) g.f. grains (buckwheat, corn) to make g.f. beer, doesn't produce the
exact taste and it is not cost effective. (And unlike alcohols to high proofs,
beer is not a distilled product.)

Those dedicated few who go through the effort to malt non-g.f. grains to make
a truly g.f. beer will be enthusiastic to advertise it as such.

Many of the wine cooler types of beverages are on the market also have malt
from barley added as flavor. As warm weather approaches, read the labels on
that you're drinking at those backyard parties.
