I have just received a follow-up letter to my phone call to StarKist. The
letter, from Jaime Breitenbach, Consumer Relations Representative
(1-800-252-1587), indicates that StarKist tuna "does not contain the
following ingredients: Corn, emulsifiers, wheat starch, preservatives,
vegetable gum, distilled vinegar, colorings and dyes, modified food starch,
derivatives of gluten, malt made from barley, color with grain sources,
alcohol made from grain, cereals and cereal grains, glutin (gliadin) from
wheat, barley, rye, oats, millet or buckwheat."

I was advised over the phone, however, that although the tuna in their
Charlie's Lunch Kits is gluten free, the Heinz mayo might not be. I phoned
Heinz, and they said the mayo and relish in the lunch kits contained gluten (
as do the crackers, of course). By phone, the Heinz representative did
assure me that their ketchup, vegetarian beans, sweet relish, distilled white
vinegar, wine vinegar, and apple cider vinegar were all GF.

Given the lack of cooperation of Betty Crocker, Kraft, Boston Chicken, etc.
it is refreshing when a company can provide definitive ingredient
information, and I'm happy to share it with you.
