Hi all,
Was just wondering what you all think...
My husband has Celiac and doing well on strict GF dietMy middle son (age 7 years) has Celiac and Hashimotos and doing well on strict GF dietMy younger son (age 5 years) so far is fine
My older son (age 10 years) has Hashimotos and carries the DQ2 and DQ8 genes. He has tested NEGATIVE multiple times on his blood anitbody tests. Due to Hashimotos, we test him for Celiac every 6 months. He feels well and does not have any classic Celiac symtoms at this time. He is small relative to his peers (but endo thinks it's fine since he is fine on growth chart), and definitely thin ----but parents are small and thin as well. The only mystery are sporadic eczema patches that come and then reappear on a different part of his body and lasts a while. The pediatrician does not think it is systemic but has no explanation. Could be external allergy reaction.
I am wondering if he may have Celiac but it's not showing in his antibodies. Wondering if I should try him on a GF diet to see how he does. It's such a lifelong commitment and hard to do when a physician isn't telling you to do it.
Any ideas? I can summarize.
Thanks!!!!
