Free Blood Screening for Celiac Disease

Saturday, January 29, 2000
The Hedrick Building, Friday Center Drive, Hwy 54, Chapel HIll, North Carolina

An opportunity to have your whole family screened for celiac disease.

As part of the nation-wide study of the prevalence of celiac disease, North
Carolina's Triangle Gluten Free Group is pleased to offer free antibody
screening for first and second degree relatives of patients diagnosed with
celiac disease. Anyone who is the parent, child, grandparent, grandchild,
sibling, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew of an identified patient, and who is
NOT on a gluten free diet, is welcome to come. There will be no charge,
although contributions to the Center for Celiac Research at the University of
Maryland will be cheerfully accepted. Also, participants will be asked to
fill out a brief questionnaire. The screening is sponsored by Dr. William
Heizer, University of North Carolina Division of Gastroenterology, and will
be conducted by Dr. Ivor Hill, Pediatric Gastroenterology, Wake Forest School
of Medicine. Blood samples will be analysed at the Univerity of Maryland.

We will be showing a videotape of a talk by Drs. Fasano and Horvath of
UMaryland. Dietary Specialties/ MenuDirect will be offering samples of their
products.

To make an appointment, please call 919-967-9954. If no one answers, please
leave a message including your name and phone number; your call will be
returned.
