Listmates,

This is the response we received from Kraft concerning their
ingredients in their Miracl Whip:

"Information from our vinegar suppliers assures us that the vinegar we
use in our products does not contain gluten. Modified food starch can be
derived from a variety of grain sources and thus might potentially
contain gluten. If the word 'spices' appears in the ingredient line,
some of the more commonly used spices in our products include:

Allspice, anise, basil, basil leaves, caraway seed, cardamon, celery
seed, chervil, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin seed, dill seed, fennel
seed, fenugreek, ginger, horseradish, mace, marjoram, mustard flour,
nutmeg, oregano, paprika, parsley, black pepper, white pepper, red
pepper, rosemary, saffron, sage, savory, star aniseed, ETC.

Regrettably, the exact spice information on our products is proprietary.
Due to the sensitive nature of product formulas, information on specific
spices in a product is confidential. Many of our ingredient suppliers
consider their spice information confidential. We cannot categorically
state which flavor components are contained in natural flavor listed on
the ingredient line. However, ANY NATURAL FLAVOR WHICH CONTAINS A FOOD
ALLERGEN MUST BE IDENTIFIED ON THE INGREDIENT STATEMENT

For example, butter flavor or natural flavor (contains milk). This
source of the natural flavor is confidential information. We do require
that our suppliers of natural flavors IDENTIFY if the natural flavors
are derived from or contain any allergens."

I understand this is a very vague statement, but I hope it can help some
of you. I think I shall call them and get a straight answer. Sometimes
e-mail just doesn't get the point across! I'll keep everyone
updated!!!!
