Well, it seems that the overwhelming response was that the cruise line will
be accomadating, but as with any venture outside our own kitchens, we have to
double and triple check and make sure we cover every avenue.....call them
ourselves, have your travel agent call them, fax them information, what you
can and can't have (I included some name brand items on my fax as well as a
suggestion they make sure they have some specialty items on board for me). I
am to check in with the Matre D when I arrive and I also plan on cultivating
a relationship with one or two servers and make them familiar with this diet.
The free style cruise may turn out to be somewhat of a challenge, but then
what isn't? I have asked for a refridgerator in my room and will bring some
staples. Some folks gave me names of health food stores in Bar Harbour and
one lovely person gave me the name of a restaurant in Martha's Vineyard. I
also recieved a warning that some restaurants in New England like to add
bread crumbs to every meal. All in all, I am looking forward to a nice (if
not totally relaxing) time on the ship. If you all are interested, I'll let
you know how it went (end of July). Also, FYI, when I asked my travel agent
to let American Airlines know (always the CD advocate), they replied that
they could not provide a gf meal for me.........hmmmmm...........they can fly
planes all over the world, but can't provide a gf meal..........hmmmmmmm.
Maybe I need to rethink that airline????? Bon Voyage everyone!
