Celiac Disease Foundation presents their annual Education Conference & Food
Faire on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles,
California from 8:30am to 4pm.

Speakers include Donald Kasarda, PhD, research chemist (Retired) with the
U.S. Department of Agriculture, Karoly Horvarh, MD, from Center for Celiac
Research, University of Maryland Baltimore, Michelle Pietzak, MD Pediatric
Gastroenterology Nutrition, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and Director of
Center for Celiac Research – West,  Pisit “Duke” Pitukcheewanont, Director,
Pediatric Bone Program, Endocrinology & Metabolism, Childhood Diabetes
Center, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and author Carol Fenster PhD, expert
on gluten free cooking and award winning publisher of six books on the
gluten free lifestyle.  There will be a moderated panel discussion with Q&A
following the speakers.

Special Guest – Lee Tobin, Whole Foods Markets gluten-free baking program
will be talking about the Whole Foods Gluten-Free Bakehouse and offering
free samples of the latest gf baked goods during the conference.
There will also be an Extensive Vendor Display with samples and sales.  A
Continental gluten free breakfast and lunch will be provided with
registration.

Registration before April 30th is $75 and after April 30th is $90.  Walk-ins
the day of the conference will also be $90.   Children between ages 5 and 14
are $35.  Free parking with validation is available at the parking structure
directly across the street from the Conference Center.  Register by calling

There will be an all day supervised Children’s Program for celiac kids and
their siblings ages 5 and up.  Included in the day’s activities will be a
Q&A with a pediatrician and registered dieticians, arts & craft and games.

Lunchtime mini sessions will include discussion groups for parents with
children who have celiac and Type I diabetes, people newly diagnosed, teens
and young adults.   Author Carol Fenster, PhD will also be available for
book signing.

There will also be a free celiac blood screening available for those
individuals "at risk" only during the conference from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Advance registration is required by all participants.  To register and see
if you qualify as “at risk” call 818/990-2354.   Participation in the blood
test does NOT include registration for the conference or validated parking.
Separate admission is required to attend the seminars or visit vendor
exhibits.  The Blood Screening is sponsored by Prometheus Laboratories and
The Binding Site.    Stephen G. Levinson, MD and Robert D. Zipser, MD will
be supervising this program.
