Hello to the group.
This is my first time writing, as I was just recently diagnosed with Celiac
Sprue Disease. I have begun the GF diet and have been a dedicated eater for
3 weeks. The reason I am writing is because I have been feeling pretty awful
since I started the diet. I have been feeling very very down and my emotions
have been crazy. I have been crying (which is very out of character for me)
and I have been feeling sick (though with no definite symptoms). Although I
know that this is a difficult time, I do not think that it is "all in my
head." My doctor said that it could be due to the big chance in diet and
that it would take 3mo for me to feel "normal" emotionally. A friend of mine
with Celiac told me that she felt the same way when she started the GF diet
7 years ago, she did not have any advise about what I could do to feel
better. Another friend with Celiac told me that eating potatoes seemed to
help. I was wondering if any of you felt the same and if so what helped you.
I know that it sounds silly to others without the disease, but I really do
feel like my body is freaking out now that I started the GF diet and I feel
significantly worse that I did before I started it.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.
I will summarize for the group.
