To answer two people's questions at once -
  gram flour is NOT graham flour - it is flour frrom Bengal gram, a species
of legume very similar to our chickpeas/garbanzos. Yummy stuff if you
tolerate beans.
 
And I have cooked poppadums in the microwave - they are not as nice as
other ways, but it does puff them up. I forget how long each time and have
to experiment. I would start at 30 seconds on high.
