I've had several ask how the TV publicity went. Well, the reporter and
her cameraman spent longer at our house than I expected, even filmed my wife
taking a gluten-free cake out of the oven. I gave her material about Rich
Gannon, as well as the photograph of Rich and Danielle, and her report said
not a word about them. However, she did include my comments about the
undiagnosed and misdiagnosed statistics, how great I'm living with celiac
knowledge from our list-serve, and they even went to a supermarket to
photograph food which we cannot eat. But get this: She had already gone
online and gotten info and charts which she revealed on TV. So, all of
you--It's frustrating to deal with unpredictable publicity people, but it
may be our best chance at helping others, and eventually we'll get more
people on a national level to advance our cause. THAT'S what will help our
kids and selves. Let's keep writing to our political people and let's be
vigilant about opportunities of any kind that may get exposure. And hey,
how about thinking of a date we can call "Celiac Day" (or week?...maybe
Danielle Gannon's birthday?) whereby we all go on a media blitz with our
e-mails? And we can appeal to all our commercial connections to help.
Think about it...and good health to all!
