Hello group...

Yesterday, Laura B.'s post about Caltrate really got me thinking
about how lucky we all are to live in a time where total strangers
are able to share and benefit from one another's experiences and
discoveries. I really feel so fortunate and thank all of you for
your posts that I continue to learn from.

My 11 year old Celiac daughter has been gluten free for over 2 years
and feeling so much better. For the past 2 weeks, however, she has
not been feeling well and looks a lot like her pre-diagnosis self -
nauseous all the time, especially after eating, tired, cranky, achy,
tingly, etc. We have been assuming there is accidental gluten
exposure happening somewhere and have been desperately trying to
figure out what it could be. When I read Laura's post, I thought
that Caltrate could be the key as my daughter has been taking it 2x/
day for more recently diagnosed osteoporosis. However, I just got
off the phone with the company and they assured me that Caltrate was
still gluten free (although, they were not able to identify for me
the "modified food starch" listed on the label and just told me it
must be from corn or it would be labeled more specifically...it
troubled me that they said this information was "proprietary" and
they were unable to identify the starch and that even they did not
have access to this information).

That being said, we are back to square one, trying to figure out what
is going on with my daughter. I have contacted the manufacture's of
her favorite foods to reconfirm GF status and have not yet found
anything that makes me suspicious. I have also begun to wonder if
she is developing another food allergy or intolerance or if there is
some other organ involved - it is clearly connected to eating, though.

Has anyone had an experience like this? I would be so grateful for
any thoughts you might have... it is so awful to see a loved one
suffering and not know how to help.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I wonder, also, if we might, as a group, have a uniform
subject line that would help everyone quickly identify those posts
which indicate the discovery of a product reformulation that has
resulted in the loss of GF status? Thanks again to Laura B. for the
Caltrate post!
