I called Nestle Canada, and the representative said that while Rolo
does not have any "added" gluten (which I'm assuming means
that the glucose is not derived from wheat) it is manufactured
on equipment that may have traces of gluten. It is thereforefore
subject to cross-contamination.

A couple respondants mentioned gluten-like reactions from Rolo,
and avoid it as a result.

The issue that concerned me the most was that the ingredient
listing points to the fact that glucose may derived from wheat.
It makes me question other products that don't list the glucose
source. On that subject, one respondant shared the following:

"Probably CYA and abiding by the new labeling laws. Glucose can be
derived from wheat. I've seen (either on this list or in the magazine
Gluten-Free Living) statements that 1) in the US glucose is almost
always derived from corn, 2) in Europe, it is more frequently derived
from wheat, and 3) it is another product sufficiently and
appropriately processed and purified as to be gf even when derived
from wheat. If Nestle makes Rolo in Europe, they could be using
wheat-derived glucose. You'll have to contact them to find out for
sure, as Rolo is one of the brands for which I can find no info on
their web site."

For now, sadly, Rolo goes to the trashcan.
