I have been contacted by ASSE to see if we might be able to help place an
Exchange Student from Russia with dietary restrictions. Is anyone willing to
help this girl? The Deadline for her placement is August 31, so response
to this message is urgent. The contact is Sarah Maples and her information
is below.

The following is from Sarah:

Thank you again for your help with this. I understand it is a tight
timeline and that hosting a foreign student is a significant decision to make
but, sometimes, if we can just touch base with the right person, then
everything clicks.

I work for American Scandinavian Student Exchange (ASSE), a State
Department recognized student exchange program. ASSE strictly adheres to all State
Department regulations, has been approved for listing by the U.S. Council
on Standards for International Educational Travel, and is a non-profit
organization. We have both inbound and outbound programs with over 30 countries
and both students and host families go through a thorough vetting process to
ensure the safety of all parties. Further information can be found at
_www.asse.com_ (http://www.asse.com) .

Currently, we have a 16 year old Russian girl, Yelena, whom we have yet to
place due to her diet restrictions (she is allergic to wheat, eggs, fish,
and citrus). She has qualified for a US funded grant program called Future
Leaders Exchange (FLEX) but will be unable to come to the US if we cannot
find a family for her by August 31st. We are looking for a family, anywhere
in the US, willing to host her for the duration of the school year. They
would be expected to provide room and board, as they would for their own
child, but there are no additional fees required.

Yelena enjoys modern dancing, psychology, art/crafts, badminton, bowling,
bicycling, reading, photography. She hopes to be a psychologist and likes to
communicate with different people, help them and add new information to my
knowledge. Her additional languages are English and French.

If you have any more questions about Yelena or about our program, please
feel free to contact me (Sarah Maples) at 770-375-0930. And thank you again
for your help.

Respectfully,
Sarah Maples
