Recently I saw a new doctor who is a GP and intestinal surgeon He
believes that I have leaky gut syndrome. (This is unusual because none
of my HMO GP's or Internists believe that leaky gut is an ailment. When
I tell them that, they almost laugh and shake their heads. ) Although I
can now eat many of the foods that I could not eat for years, I still
have problems with high carbohydrate food. I have exercise intolerance
and although I am better, I am still not up to par. This new doctor put
me on a new diet. It is intended as a means of strict one for healing.
He has prescribed a vegetable juicing diet for a month and then 6 glasses
of vegetable juices a day. I bought a juicer for $25 in a local discount
store. I did not like fresh vegetable juice at first, but now I really
enjoy it. I guess one has to get used to it. It is a pain in the neck
to clean, but it is the price of health. I also eat some protein with
each meal and 1 teaspoon of Olive oil with each meal. The point of this
he says, is that fresh juiced vegetables are high in vitamins. He tells
me that the intestines can more easily assimilate the vitamins in the
juice form and the intestines do not have to work as hard while they are
healing. This takes care of many diseases naturally and helps cure the
leaky gut. I do feel so much better and I am getting my strength back
and I don't start wishing that I could go to bed right after work at 6:00
pm every night. The other thing about juicing is that he says that most
of the toxins and pesticides abide in the pulp of the vegetable and is
filtered out, therefore helping to eliminate further contamination to a
weakened intestinal lining. He also wants me to make a diary of the
vegetables that I use to track how a felt after each drink in case there
was a reaction to one of the vegetables. He also said that it could take
6 months to a year to completely restore a healthy intestines. I hope
that information, although NOT MEDICAL ADVICE, may be of use to anyone
that is still struggling with leaky gut and other intestinal problems
that don't seem to heal. I also wonder if others have tried this and
what results they have had. I have seen on very early morning TV the
wonders of juicing, but thought it was just another way to sell
merchandise. Carol in NJ
