I'll be having a laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication (i.e. heartburn surgery)
in a few weeks.

I was wondering if anyone could give me any insights/advice/etc. on being
gluten-free in a hospital setting. From what they tell me, I should be
released the next day, after they do a quick test to make sure I'm
swallowing OK. I'm guessing that this means they'll be feeding me something.
I'll be asking a coupel questions when I go in next week for bloodwork, but
do you generally find it easier to find out what they'll be serving and let
them know if its gluten-free? Or take your own food? Since I'll be on a
mostly-soft food and liquid diet for a bit, I'm guessing the food they might
use would probably be either a drink or something the consistency of jello.
Is jell-o gluten free? I don't really eat it, so never really bothered to
check...

I also have a prescription for a bowel prep I'm supposed to drink the day
before. Has anyone here taken it before and know if its gluten-free? I've
not dropped it off at my pharmacist yet, but I'll be asking him when I take
it in as well.

Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. I'll post a summary
post-surgery.

Thanks!

Lucy
