Hello everyone

I am scheduled to undergo a root canal procedure in a couple of days and
I'm becoming increasingly concerned about the gluten free aspect. During
the consultation I asked what they'd be using since I can't digest any
gluten and the doctor made a silly expression, "No I can't think of
anything we use that would have gluten in it".

After searching through the archives I see that there are many posts by
those who get sick after a dental visit. I've found lists of GF dental
materials and it seems like everything people inquire about is gluten free.
So then what might not be GF? I read that the gloves might be powdered with
a starch, but what else should I be concerned about? Do they use alchohol
for sterilization?

My procedure will require 2 separate visits to the endodontist and then I
suppose I will have to go to the dentist for whatever else is necessary
like a crown. The more I think about how much this requires, all of the
chemicals they will use, the antibiotics and anesthesias, the more I don't
want to go through with it.

Unfortunately my only other option is an extraction, which I would gladly
accept if it weren't for the fact that eventually my teeth would shift and
lean over where that tooth is missing.

So do I just trust them? What if they use something that stays in/on the
tooth and constantly leaks small amounts of particles into my system making
me sick?

Sometimes this celiac thing sure can complicate things.

thanks

electrik
